The release of new consoles has brought up questions about what games will be playable on the next-gen consoles.

Thankfully some game developers are already notifying their fans that not only will their games be playable on the new consoles, but they will also take steps to ensure the enhancement, performance, and upgrades for the next-gen versions of their game.

For a lot of games, this means they will now run on 4K at 60 FPS on the Playstation 5 consoles. A pretty significant upgrade from Playstation 4 that only allowed these games to run at 30FPS.

Here is a list of games confirmed to have been confirmed to have an upgrade:

  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Borderlands 3
  • Control
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Dead by Daylight
  • Destiny 2
  • Dirt 5
  • DOOM Eternal
  • For Honor
  • Guilty Gear Strive
  • Maneater
  • Marvel’s Avengers
  • Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom
  • Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate
  • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege
  • The Elder Scrolls Online
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  • Watch Dogs Legion
  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon

How Do Free Upgrades Work?

The upgrades will work differently depending on how the developers decide to handle them and what version of the game you own (digital or disc).

For example, if you purchase a digital copy of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on the PS4, you’ll be able to upgrade to a digital copy of the game on the PS5 for free.

If you have the disc version of the Assassin’s Creed Valhalla then you can still play the PS5 version of it as long as you use the PS4 version of the disc.
